Plot :

Originally appeared in his own series, also done by Aoyama Goushou called Magic Kaito. This series has not been translated into English.

Kaito Kuroba is the son of the original Kaitou Kid, Toichi Kuroba. Kaito became a thief to investigate the mysterious death of his father, killed by members of The Black Organisation. He found out that they were searching for the Pandora Gem and decided to prevent them from finding it. Kaito Kid is noted for being Non lethal in his methods.

Conan Edogawa while he would normally consider going after a thief to be a waist of his talents is intrigued by Kid's ability to notify his targets (and hence the police) with a cryptic clue of what, when, and where he is going to strike, and get away with it. Conan has been able to prevent some of the Kid's thefts, he has not been able to catch him. Some how Kaito has learned that Conan is Shin'ichi Kudou, but has not revealed this fact to anyone but Conan. On top of this Kaito looks so much like Shin'ichi that he has even managed to fool Ran.

During heists Kid will occasionally be shot at by a member of the Black Organization, known as Snake or Jackal.
